Social events sites and links
Brunch in NYC and other social events allows gay men to build relationships with each other and their allies. This is my list of popular social event sites and links that help to build the gay community.
If you ever been to NY Pride you’ve must have heard of Heritage of Pride. Every year during Pride month the organization organizes dozens of events for the LGBTQIA+ community. World Pride NYC is coming up soon so be on the look out for their events.
Gay Men of African Descent has been existence since 1986(great year). The organization was created to promote the visibility of black gay men. If you’re looking to be involved with dialogues and conversations centered around issues affecting the gay community you should stop by their location. They are based in the best borough in New York, Brooklyn.
Bloom is a brand like no other. One of its founders, Oludbode Shawn Brown, started Bloom with a party but it has since grown to so much more. If you go to the website you will find information about events, Olu’s writings, and a blog. I know Olu and can say that he’s doing an amazing job with Bloom which is helping to build the gay community. You can find Bloom on Instagram at bloomlivefree
The Brown Boys is another amazing network geared towards gay men of color. The organization initially began organizing quarterly brunches some of which highlighted issues in the gay community such as the AIDS/HIV crisis. Brown Boys has also produced a variety of events including happy hours and financial empowerment workshops. And oh, one of the founders is actually pretty cute!(my secret crush, shh).
Mobi is sort of like Ted talks for the gay community. Their events have featured dynamic speakers and personalities including Karamo Brown and Julian Walker. I’ve been to a few of the events and always have a great time. You’ll meet entrepeneurs, musicians, artists, and people from all different walks of life at Mobi’s events.
Guy Social is another popular gay organization. If you are looking for gay events outside the club scene come to a Guy Social event. The pool parties are fun to go to and will have you feeling excited and wet.
Kings Men is a team of professional men who produces gay events in Brooklyn. These events include dope house parties, happy hours, and club events. If you want to mix and mingle with smooth, sophisticated men you should attend Kings Men events.
